Plan your itinerary

Once  you've decided to walk The Peak Way, the next step is to plan your itinerary and it is wise to do this well in advance of your planned walk because accommodation can soon become fully booked. This page suggests the first three stages of your planning.

1  How will you walk it?

The Guide Book shows the Route in stages and each one represents a walk that can be easily walked in a day by most hikers. So, you can walk the whole route in two weeks.

Some of you will want to walk it in a shorter time, whilst some of you may wish to take your time and, possibly build in a rest day or two. Or perhaps you want to take some time to visit the tourist attractions in certain areas. You might even decide to split the walk by doing half in one year and the other half in the following year. Whichever way you choose, this is the first step so that you can think about planning your accommodation and travel arrangements.

2  Book your accommodation

Once you have decided how long you intend to take to walk the Peak Way (including any rest days and/or stops to visit tourist attractions) you will need to book your accommodation. The Peak District is very popular with tourists and so it's advisable to book well in advance. Also, please be aware that not all providers take single-night stays and there is a minimum two or three nights stay at some accommodation. If you buy the Guide Book on this website you will get a FREE list of accommodation providers  - it could save you many hours trawling through different websites. The list includes hotels, pubs, bed & breakfast/guesthouses, youth hostels and campsites.
