Ken Reece on long-distance hike
Walking the Peak Way Guide Book Cover

Ken Reece planned the Peak Way and is the author of the Official Guide Book. His love of the Peak District started back in the 1950s when his parents first took him and his brother there on a hike in the Goyt Valley. They were young children then but it had such a great impact that he was destined to develop a passion for hiking. And, years later, that is what he did. He has been a keen walker for about 45 years now and most of this has been in the Peak District.

As well as the thousands of day-walks he has enjoyed, he has completed several of the UK’s long-distance walks. The last of these was his longest - the 630-mile South West Coast Path.

The Peak District

He has done most of his walking in the Peak District for many years with his walking partner and members of his family. And, on many of these walks he was also accompanied by his dog, Rocky, who loved to walk for miles.
